Senator Iyere Ihenyen is Lead Partner a Infusion Lawyers, a virtual intellectual property (IP) and information Technology (IT) law firm for the knowledge economy and the digital age. Before founding Infusion Lawyers (recognized as Nigeria’s first virtual law firm), Senator was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at The Write House and Managing Partner at Assizes Lawfirm.

Senator is Country Contributor (Nigeria) data protection and privacy expert contributors for DataGuidance, an international data- and privacy-compliance network. In 2016, he completed a comprehensive data note on data protection and policy in Nigeria, available in over 100 countries.

A technology-inclined lawyer, Senator is presently the Vice Chairman (Policy & Regulations) at Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria (SiBAN) where he heads the Subcommittee on Policy & Regulations. He is also the Chief Intellectual Property & Compliance Officer at SUREBANQA, an Estonia-based blockchain startup with special focus on Africa. As an accredited agent of Nigeria’s Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry, Senator helps innovators protect and exploit their innovations.

A firm believer in investing in intellectual-property assets and leveraging disruptive technology to create opportunities, Senator has been guest speaker at various fora, including the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the Obafemi Awolowo University, the University of Lagos, the University of Ibadan, the Lagos State University, and the University of Benin. On World IP Day 2018, he was the Guest Speaker at Nigeria’s celebration of the day in Warri, Delta State where he presented a lecture titled ‘The Masculinity of Intellectual Property, Femininity, and the Malnourished Baby’.

Senator is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). He is also a member of the International Intellectual Property Lawyers Association (IIPLA).

Founder of  NigerianLawToday.com where he is the IP & IT contributor, Senator has been awarded the Intellectual Property Advocate Lawyer of the Year 2018 at the University of Benin and also a finalist at the Nigeria Legal Awards’ Rising Star (40 under 40) Award 2018. He is an alumnus of the University of Benin, Benin City.
